A caterpillar
wishing for change
forgoes stability
but not his brains
In tranquility
he hangs his head
softly swinging
by a single thread
If change is bringing
he does not know
but he’d give the world
to leave the world below
Tightly curled
and safe from abuse
away from the others
his wings will debut
Like his brothers
it had begun
he was changing
beneath the sun
Molecules rearranging
organs intact
as beautiful wings
began to protract
Cut where the strings
that had held him back
no one could stop him
or give him a smack
The forests sang hymn
and the winds gave their cry
as everyone celebrated
the birth of a butterfly
